The Old Settler’s Festival, Austin’s down-home, family friendly jam weekend out at Camp Ben McCulloch and the Salt Lick Pavilion is celebrating it’s 20th Anniversary this year. The festival gets kicked off this evening with the “Settle In” party out in the Camp Grounds, this year featuring Darrell Scott, Green Mountain Grass, Slim Richey & Kat’s Meow, Slaid Cleaves, and the Red Stick Ramblers. Party gets going at 5pm.
Although we feel that this year’s lineup isn’t the strongest the festival has seen, there are still a number of quality performers to give you you’re money’s worth. Just how much worth you ask? Well, you can find the breakdown here, but your best bet is just to make a weekend of it and go for the $120 4-day pass with camping.
As previously reported, among the top names taking the stages this year are Joan Osborne, Sam Bush, Iris Dement, Big Sandy and Los Straitjackets, Robbie Fulks and Danny Barnes, and Ruthie Foster. But more importantly, it looks like it will be a beautiful weekend and there really is no better way to spend the day than outside of the city at Old Settler’s.
