In case you haven’t been following the Austin City Limits Festival’s new competition, the oh-so-cleverly named “The Sound and the Jury” contest, we’ll bring you up to speed. For the past several weeks, local bands have registered on the ACL website to let fans vote for their shot a spot on the bill at ACL. Who wants to be the next Ghostland?
This past week, a panel of celebrity judges whittled down the top 100 bands with the most votes to a final selection of 20. Fans now have the chance to vote again for their favorites until August 31, when the top ten will be selected for the final round. Once down to ten, those bands will take the stage at Antone’s on September 12th to perform before the their fans and the judges, who will choose one lucky and deserving band to perform at this year’s ACL Fest.
Some of Austin Sound’s past featured bands and favorites are in the final roundup, including Golden Bear, Clap! Clap!, and the Black and White Years. You can vote for your favorite here.
