A day late but no less jam-packed with events, it’s Weekend Preview.
Two super lineups dominate the weekend beginning with UME, Ringo Deathstarr, Haunting Oboe Music and more at the Monarch Event Center. Then Sunday, KOOP plays host to a fundraiser where you have the chance of winning a scooter, and the guarantee of good music, compliments of The Bellfuries, La Snacks, Peel, and Foot Foot.
SATURDAY

UME is headlining quite a show at the Monarch Event Center this Saturday night, which features 7 bands for $7 (we’re all about bargain bins here at Austin Sound). The lineup features a slew of Austin favorites, including Ringo Deathstarr, Haunting Oboe Music, Prayer For Animals and relative newcomers Red X Red M, Hey Zeus, and Follow That Bird, the all-girl power-trio who we had the pleasure of seeing open for Shearwater this past month.

SUNDAY

The KOOP is hosting one hell of a party this Sunday to raise money to pay for some of the damages caused by the fire back in January. They’ll be raffling off a gorgeous new 150cc Scooter from Scooter Revolution, along with other prizes including a year of free rentals at I Luv Video, a free comedy class at the ColdTowne Theater, and a gift certificate to Spiderhouse Café. Raffle tickets are $5 and get you into the event, which is being held at the United States Art Authority (next to Spiderhouse), for free.
Some serious local talent will be providing the soundtrack for all the gift-giving, including The Bellfuries (whose brand new album Palmyra we reviewed here), La Snacks, Peel (their new EP we also reviewed), and Foot Foot. Sounds like a great time, and it’s all for a good cause.
As always, be sure to check back with us next week for more choice events to fill the weekend box in your planner.
These picks not enough? Check out Do512 or Showlist Austin for more comprehensive listings.
