Given today’s Wall Street news, we probably couldn’t have picked a better time to feature the Good Times Crisis Band. The trio lives up to its name, unloading an urgent punk scrawl that is fevered and fun, their aggressive riffs and forceful drums pushing the serrated but upbeat songs. While the group claims below to want to be champions of “music for music’s sake,” their sarcastic and playful spite in songs like “Cyber Freee” or “Luddites” from last year’s debut LP, Select a Gather Point on the Australian Cattle God label, are ripped with the kind of commentary that calls out the ludicrous world around us. Good Times Crisis Band will be heading up to the CMJ Festival at the end of October, but before then you can catch them at Emo’s inside this Friday, September 19, with Boxcar Satan, Red X Red M, and Megazilla. When everything else is falling apart, at least we can still dance, dance, dance.

Playing after a DJ at the Whiskey Bar , the place cleared out as a cold front whipped through the open front door, dropping the temperature at least 20 degrees. . The Gods pointed their fingers at us and exclaimed “ did you guys really think you could do this show? Ha, such hubris ”!!!!

Song Introduction:
“This Will Pass”. I wrote about my young niece, who kept seeing the replay of the jets hitting the Twin Towers on Tv. It was traumatizing to a kid that was not old enough to understand that it wasn’t happening to hundreds of planes and hundreds of buildings. It’s a song of comfort to a child but also one of resolve and strength.
Sound Off:
The Good Times Crisis Band is about what makes us want to play music. Luckily, we never had much commercial success in prior efforts so we still purely love this thing and hold it sacred. If it became bread & butter that would change. We play what we want. I guess we could be accused of genre hopping a little. But it is all with one unique voice which I think maintains an intense consistency. It is music we would want to hear from bands in any era. It’s fun , it’s scrappy, a little technical, sarcastic, loud, and soft. We want to be the champions of the much promised and anticipated “Music For Music Sake” era . When it finally arrives.

Where can I download their songs? I got to listen to their songs in MySpace and I found it good. I love the classic metal rock injected on it, the pitch doesn’t go overboard.
