Video: The Boxing Lesson - “Dark Side of the Moog”

By Austin Sound • Nov 5th, 2008 • Category: News

The Boxing Lesson have been releasing a whole slew of videos from their new album Wild Streaks and Windy Days. The latest is a creepy animation for their Pink Floyd-inspired song “Dark Side of the Moog,” which seems to find our three local heroes abandoned on some prehistoric planet. Eric Power, who also provided the animation for the Lovely Sparrows’ recent “Year of the Dog”, is responsible for creating this dark vision for the Boxing Lesson. Check it out below.

The Boxing Lesson, meanwhile, is still trolling along the west coast and will return home to Austin on December 12 with a show at Emo’s supporting Girl in a Coma. They also have a Daytrotter session planned as that fine website continues to pluck some of our best acts to highlight.

  1. This video is sick!

  2. eric powers is a genius

  3. Terrible. This is the part where I start stabbing my eyes and my eardrums with a piece of rusty barbed-wire.

  4. This has nothing to do with Pink Floyd and I can barely hear any Moog.

I’ve got a fever, and the only prescription… is more more Moog (and less goth whining).

  5. Oh really? Because the entire song is Moog. You obviously don’t know what a Moog sounds like.

  6. Who cares what instruments these people use? Their sound is totally uninspired. Watered -down trash.

  7. This song is really cool!!!

  8. *** This video will appear on Fuse TV and Fuse on Demand in January 09. Congrats to The Boxing Lesson and Eric Power on a great video.

  9. So this is what Eric Carle’s nightmares look like…

Very cool video for a very meh song. The instrumentation is fine, but the vocals are like black-nailpolished fingers on a chalkboard.

  11. ^congrats, you recognized that I review, though without any other message I can’t tell if thats just for reference or some attempt to call me out or what.

If you’re wondering, I do like this newer stuff better than “Key of C”.
