Hey, did you hear about this huge Thunder of the Gods Festival that was supposed to happen out in Dripping Springs last weekend? Yeah, neither did we, which is probably a good indication as to why the Fest was a complete bomb and was canceled at the last minute. The Fest had a huge lineup, with over a hundred bands on tap over the four days and My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult headlining. Metal bands from all over the world were booked, and many showed up at Austin-Bergstrom Airport only to find that the entire thing had been axed without any notice whatsoever!
Apparently fans also arrived at the (dumbly named) Recreation Plantation Campground to discover no festival, and no word of any type on a refund for their $95 ticket. So what exactly happened? A lot of folks would like to know, because apparently the promoter, one Will Pruett from Dayton, can’t be found. The Two Groove blog also claims that Pruett didn’t pay anyone, and stole a bunch of band merchandise. WTF! Dude’s got some ’splainin’ to do! Of course, one look at those comments on the Fest’s Myspace site, and we’d be hiding out too!
(ps: What kind of festival doesn’t even have a proper website!)

At least we can take some solace in the fact that this wasn’t representative of Austin in general. Here’s hoping someone gives Will what he deserves: an ass kicking and a lawsuit.
