We know our local bands are constantly drudging it out to make ends meet, and we sympathize. So we thought we would bring attention to a couple of contests that offer good payouts. The biggest is the online competition from Gatti’s Pizza, who is paying out a whopping $10,000 grand prize for someone to reinvent their jingle. Also, the fine folks over at the Austin Chronicle have decide to hold a little online contest for an open spot on their Hot Sauce Festival lineup. The Austin Chronicle Sound Wars is going on now and will have two different nomination rounds - one for this month, and then a reset and new competition for July. The top vote receivers for each month will move on to face off in August for the slot in the August 30 Fest at Waterloo Park. We hear the Chron pays pretty well to play their events, plus figure it’s not your usual Red River crowd in attendance, so your tunes might reach some new ears.
