Amy Cook Continues to Take Over World Tonight at Mohawk

By Austin Sound • Aug 12th, 2009 • Category: News

What is up with Amy Cook? The local songstress is absolutely everywhere these days! You think your band is cool? Well, Cook has a freaking documentary out about her - beat that! She has Alejandro Escovedo producing her upcoming third album, Let the Light In, which also features Patty Griffin, Ben Kweller, the Tosca Strings, and David Pulkingham blazing on elecric guitar. It’s all quite the big ball of WTF? When word spread of the documentary, called Amy Cook: The Spaces in Between and directed by Todd Robinson, we thought that was pretty cool, but then the details from that new album dropped and we couldn’t help but wonder how the hell Amy Cook suddenly became queen of the ball. Now she’s invading your precious hipster scene with a show tonight at the Mohawk, and it is practically guaranteed to be incredible as she will have the Tosca Strings backing her and Ben Kweller opening. We guess there’s a lesson here for all the hardworking local artists, but damn if we know what it is. We’ll be down at the Mohawk tonight, though, for Cook’s seminar on putting all the pieces together at once in the school of showing your sorry slacker ass up. Doors at 8:00pm, with Sleeping in the Aviary playing inside afterwards.

  3. big names, woo hoo. name droppin. now just write a song with all those names in it, in a long list. almost enough to distract the unsuspecting listener.

  4. I agree with Austin Hip. It,s pretty clear to me that the secret behind her sucess here is that she married well!
