The title alone of this new Sad Accordions song is so fantastic we couldn’t help but post it. Back when we profiled them in our Sound Off a few months ago, they still didn’t yet have any new tunes recorded since their almost 4 year old debut, A Bad Year for the Sharons, but now they’re finally prepping some new material and have released the first single recorded with Andrew Hernandez here in town. We would say “Sacrificial Chumpsucker Diatribe” sounds exactly like its title, but hell if we know what it’s supposed to be. Kinda Pavement-y if we were cornered to make a comparison. At the very least it bodes well for their upcoming release - and we do hope it will be coming soon. This song apparently appears on a little tour compilation that the quintet recently put together called Live and On Tour In Texas, which we figure they were forced to record because you just can’t roll into Lubbock without merch. Austin isn’t quite as demanding, but you can likely pick up a copy as the Sad Accordions take the stage tonight at the Mohawk along with poorly-named locals Peoplefood. Yeah, we’re clearly running low on band names here in Austin. Check out your official “Sacrificial Chumpsucker Diatribe” below.
