Old punks don’t die, apparently, nor do they in any way fade away. Case in point, John Reis, ex-Rocket from the Crypt, Drive Like Jehu, Pitchfork, the Sultans, Hot Snakes, and seemingly every formidable SoCal punk outfit. At first exposure, his new band the Night Marchers doesn’t quite carry the weight of those previous groups, but they delivered a brash and swift punk blitzkrieg nonetheless with kicks from last year’s debut See You in Magic. Still a bit subdued on ye ol’ Black Stage in the afternoon heat, but the crowd and intensity is building.
