I feel really sorry for the people who stood in the rain for Atlas Sound, because they just missed the best set of Fun Fun Fun Fest. Four guys in dime store wigs playing Metallica covers as competently as a bunch of fraternity boys fronted by a man dressed as comedic superhero Gallagher. Maybe for some of you it’s all about the music, but I’ll take the smashed fruits and mediocre Metallica covers in the rain any day of the week. As the band covered “Creeping Death,” “Battery,” and “One” (among others), Gallagher’s doppelganger went to town on two watermelons, a honeydew, and eggplant-looking-thing, a tub of sour cream, some sort of orange squash, a bushel of bananas, a bag full of apples, a cantaloupe, and one gallon of fruit punch. Hey Atlas Sound fans, what the hell did Bradford Cox smash? Oh, and to end it – a fist pumping cover of The Misfits’ “Last Caress.”
