Ditch the Fest Fest Announces Amazing Free Lineup as ACL Alternative

By Austin Sound • Sep 7th, 2010 • Category: News

Wow, we really couldn’t be more excited about helping sponsor the first annual “Ditch the Fest” Fest. Set up by Lucy the Poodle productions to be a FREE alternative event for all those people that just couldn’t see shoveling out a huge chunk of money to endure the Eagles at ACL Fest, Ditch the Fest will be taking place all day on Saturday, October 9 at Cheer Up Charlies. No matter how you feel about ACL, though, the DtF Fest has one of the most amazing local lineups that we’ve seen in a long, long time. They have over 40 bands that will be taking over three stages at the East Sixth site, and it’s all ages, and all free. Headlining are Woven Bones and Free Moral Agents (featuring “Ikey” Owens of The Mars Volta), but really it’s the rest of this lineup that blows our minds. It’s a veritable who’s who of some of Austin’s best emerging talent. The party kicks off at noon on Oct. 9 and runs until 2:00am. More information to come, but mark your calendars - and maybe even if you do have tickets to the sold out ACL, you should consider ditching Saturday for this event! Lineup of bands playing below:

  1. [...] as “a veritable who’s who of some of Austin’s best emerging talent“, Ditch the Fest Fest may not appeal to all Austin and San Antonio residents out of touch [...]

  2. I should hope this event is free, as no one in their right mind would pay to see any of these nobody acts.

  3. Also I love how Austin Sound is whoring itself out to this fest by selling ad space or accepting sponsorship from it…it’s no surprise they think this lineup is “Amazing.”

What a joke, this is a terrible web site.

  4. Yeah, AustinSound really pulled the wool over everyones’ eyes with this little blurb. They really hid the fact that they are a sponsor by mentioning it in line ONE of the blurb.

    LINE ONE.

Sorry that you got so hurt and mislead.

  5. Alex, you are an utter asshole. No one wants to hear that shit around here. take the stick out of your ass and enjoy ACL and shut the fuck up.

  6. So, Alex, I have one question. Have you ever seen any of these “nobody acts” ?

  7. Alex: and who the fuck are you, exactly?

  8. Alex = douche bag

  9. $10 says alex was kicked out of one of these “nobody acts”.

  10. At least 18 of the bands on this show I can vouch for. I’ve seen them live and they put on good shows. La Snacks, Megafauna, Pataphysics, Ringo Deathstarr, SuperLiteBike, and A Giant Dog are all well worth five bucks on their own. If you want to rip a local band, GO SEE THEM FIRST.

  11. Yppah. Fucking yes.

  12. Just to see Agent Ribbons alone is worth attending.

  13. Agreed!!! Agent ribbons rox

  14. Ryat is a killer show and many of these bands are amazing. Alex doesn’t know his head from his ass. I am sure he has yet to check out any of these bands. And all bands are no names at first tool bag Alex.
