Mp3: iKiLLCaRS - “Butcher’s Block” and “Radio Roche”

By Austin Sound • Jul 18th, 2008 • Category: News

This weekend, iKiLLCaRS will be releasing the vinyl version of their most recent EP, At Ease With Your Haste, and as the raw Austin trio knows, vinyl is the new, well, vinyl. Since you’re going to want to grab one of these 300 limited copies in all it’s waxed glory, the group has offered mp3s from the EP for free download, and we’re excited to host the B-side of it, which features “Butcher’s Block” and “Radio Roche.” You can download the other 3 tracks at various locations: unmastered versions “San Jose, 1972″ and the awesome “Teeners” from our friends over at Covert Curiosity, and final recordings of “Hartsfield-Jackson” and “Teeners” at the Chronicle’s website.

Even better than the vinyl release though, is catching iKiLLCaRS live, which you can do this this Saturday, July 19th when they storm Lambert’s with Black Panda and GPS. Check out the new album artwork and download the mp3s below.

EP Round Up – Loxsly/ Erin Ivey/ iKiLLCaRS/ Danny Malone

By Austin Sound • May 25th, 2008 • Category: Sound Reviews

Once more taking stock of a solid batch of local EPs released in the past few months, we present yet another EP Round Up. This set features new material from Loxsly, whose Flashlights is an impressive step forward, Erin Ivey’s Sweet Little EP, and overdue coverage of iKiLLCaRS and Danny Malone.

Loxsly - Flashlights (SR)

It’s been a few years since Losxly has given us new tunes, but their recent EP, Flashlights, was so worth the wait. They have progressed tremendously since Cody Ground’s baby, Forecast a Brainstorm, and even the 2005 LP Maps and Organs, featuring Loxsly’s current lineup. Still maintaining that synth pop sound we all love, the quintet of Justin Douglas, Cody Ground, Garrett Johnston, John Kelly and Eric Lugo have produced four more tracks for our listening pleasure. Ground’s raspy, whisper of a voice seems stronger and more confident; which is also more representative of how they sound live.

Sound Off: iKiLLCaRS

By Austin Sound • Dec 18th, 2006 • Category: Sound Off

For the past several weeks, iKiLLCaRS has been throwing a heck of a party at the Hole in the Wall every Monday night. Dubbed “15 Minutes of Monday,” the weekly gigs have become throwdowns that seem to digress into all the raucous energy and antics of a house party. Among the bands that commonly join in on the action are Coma in Algiers and Shoot for the Starsand KiLL Them before iKiLLCaRS closes out the night with a set that can swing from guitar driven punk to keyboard heavy dance. A growing group of loyal converts are already making Mondays at the Hole a regular event, and this week they’ll be joined by The Golden Boys and You Make Engine. iKiLLCaRS will also be there on January 1st for a self-proclaimed “free fuck for all” with a number of folks from other groups thrown in just for the hell of it.
